2008
2008 is
an exciting year for China
We have
the 2008 Olympics mainly in Beijing. Some events are
in other places like the Equestrian events in Hong
Kong and the Sailing in Quingdau. The Football
Preliminaries have also been spread out to Tianjin,
Shanghai, Shenyang, and Qinhuagdao. Beijing has
chosen an auspicious date for the games in Chinese
thinking as they see the number 8 as speaking of
prosperity so the games start on 08/08/08. For

Another
auspicious event occurs at the start of August when
there is a solar eclipse that will be visible in many
parts of China. The main area of China where the
eclipse will be visible is near the Silk Route. For

We have
had some comments in the last year that some of our
visitors would like to see us only having travel
information for China. If that is the case, can I
suggest that you bookmark our China Index and then
you can view any Specific China information. I
apologize if the title misleads you but the Silk
Route is where we have been based for the last 4
years and we are using that as our business
name.
We are making some changes to the web site. The
most visible one will be a new button at the top of
pages (other than this one) to return to the index
(here) from anywhere in the web site. It will be done
while we make changes behind the scenes to make the
html code standard. If you find any problems or
